Scene:80-81

Q1:Have you not done tormenting me with your accursed time?

Q2:Why will you never let me sleep?

Q3:Aren't you sure Pozzo wasn't Godot?

Q4:And you are Pozzo? The same as yesterday.

Q5:Was I sleeping, while the others suffered?

Q6:Am I sleeping now?

Q7:Tomorrow when I wake, What shall I say of today? That with Estragon my friend, at this place, until the fall of  night, I waited for Godot? That Pozzo passed, with his carrier, and that he spoke to us?

Q8:But in all that what truth will there be?

Q9:I wonder is pozzo really blind.

Didi was confused about waiting for Godot. He used "sleep" to express that he was struggling that if doing the same thing everyday without a result is significant or not. When a person is asleep, he should be in a state with no consciousness and no thinking. Similarly, he waited for Godot blindly and numbly. He thought someone else suffered from working hard to get rid of poverty while he choose an easy way which was waiting for someone to help him. he must was daydreaming. His life was dry and boring, and he almost knows what will be going on tomorrow. In the Q7, he made a conclusion of things happened at that day and tried to find something new and something different from other days. He always felt lonely while waiting for Godot, so he didn't let Gogo sleep and make Gogo talk to him. This also tells us the friendship between them. Everything changes as each second passed. Pozzo got blind and he was not the same as yesterday. Didi started realizing that he probably need to be awaken. He doesn't want that when the world around him is changing, he is still sleeping.

My character

Vladimir
What is your character like?  What is he not like?
He is wise, smart, thoughtful in the scene. He is really clear that his goal is waiting for Godot.

Identify the objects your character interacts with?
He sometimes interacted with his hats, He always put his hat off then put it on again.

Describe HOW your character interacts with the other characters.  Use specific examples!!!
He is the only who talked Godot's messenger, each time a boy came to the tree in the scene, Vladimir would asked him that Godot would come or not. The answer always disappointed him.

How does your character make sense of his world?  What does he think?  How does he think?
He really care about the friendship with Estragon. He loved him. When he made Estragon angry, he would always apologized to him. When Estragon had trouble with his boots, he helped him take the boots off Estragon's feet or wear it on. He wanted to have a better life and he believed that Godot would come to save them. So he waited, no matter what happened he didn't leave the tree. And he always reminded Estragon that they can't leave because they are waiting for Godot.

Homework for the Weekend

(1)The "Power of ten" shows us how tiny human beings are in the whole galaxy, everything we do would not be really matter to the world since we are just so ordinary. The play "Waiting For Godot" expressed the same idea. Vladimir and Estragon were just two vagrants according to the background. They didn't have a job and don't have anything necessary to do. Everyday they chatted and found many small topics for killing the time. Didi and Gogo didn't do anything contributing to the society. We are having the same situation under the perspective of god or under the view from the whole galaxy. We think our technology change the world and influence the whole ecosystem, but in fact we are just like Vladimir and Estragon, not important at all because no other creatures living on other planets can see what we did.

(2) Lucky is a slaver of Pozzo. Lucky must obey Pozzo's order. Even thought Lucky tried his best to satisfy his boss, Pozzo sometimes still wanted to fire him because Lucky was really old. "You want to get rid of him?I do."(Pg 24). It reflected to a cruel fact that sometimes you try your best on doing something but no one take it seriously or the result is still not the one you want. Didi and Gogo insisted on waiting for Godot everyday, but the result always disappointed them when the boy came to send them messages.

(3)Vladimir seemed expressing his determination to us because he insisted on waiting for Godot besides the trees until he comes. Instead, Estragon sometimes wanted to give up this hope and to leave that place.

(4)I think even Didi and Gogo didn't have a clue of what were they talking about. It seemed that they just mixed up a lot of topics or stories in their conversation. While they were waiting for Godot, they don't know what they could do except talking to each other.

(5) My life is related to this play. Didi and Gogo had a goal which were waiting for godot even thought they were not informed that what is the accurate time that Godot will come. In my life, I have my dream as well. No one come to tell us when I will be achieve this goal, but I won't give up anyway because I believed that I will be success one day.

(6) The first one is friendship. It shows Didi and Gogo love each other, although they always had arguments. The second one is goal or dream. Waiting for godot is the main story line of this play. If they didn't set this as their goal, they would not appear on the stage. They would continue living without any hopes, dreams like the walking dead. The goal which is waiting for godot gives them the significance of their lives because they know what to do at least.

(7)Some people might think this play is cynical because the fate of this two people are tragedy. We might think they were waiting for something that will never come, but how could we know that  godot won't come if they don't wait. So I think the author wants to tell us that no matter how ridiculous or how funny that our dreams are, we must hold on to it anyway. Sometimes People feel insecure because they don't have a dream or how to achieve the goals. When we don't know what we live for, we lost the direction and feel lost. The flip side of insecurity is calling and sense of responsibility. When we have goals in our life, we will have that.
